Class 6, Coin Exercise Part 2

In part 2 of the coin exercise we did the same thing as exercise one, created a silver dollar. However, instead of using vector graphics like in Microsoft Word, we used bitmap graphics in GIMP.

Class 6, Coin Exercise Part 1

In this exercise we used Microsoft Word to create a silver dollar. Microsoft Word was used because we are learning to use vector style images.

Class 5, Assignment 1

This infograph was created by my to display information regarding the upcoming 2013 iED Summits taking place at Boston College June 3-6. I used pikochart.com to create this chart. More details about the iED Summits can be found at http://summit.immersiveeducation.org/

MIDTERM #10

This is a screenshot from my Midterm #10. For this midterm we had to use Microsoft Word to construct the picture of a house and people playing in front of it. The point of this midterm was to begin understanding the differences between vector graphics and bitmap graphics. In this picture I used many different drawing tools, including basic shapes, lines, stars and banners, and many colors. The original Microsoft Word file can be seen here. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. MIDTERM #9

Here is a screenshot of my Midterm #9. In this midterm I used Microsoft Word . In Word I inserted basic shapes and arrows to create a course diagram for Discovering Computer Graphics. I then made the basic shapes into text boxes by right clicking and typed in the information about the course. The original Microsoft Word file can be downloaded here. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Roll Call #2, Class #5

TEXTURE MAPPING

iED 2013 at Boston College

Researchers, educators, administrators, and business leaders all gather for the Immersive Education Summit conferences. In these conferences  people participate in workshops, panel discussions, and presentations which provide an "in-depth overview of immersive learning platforms, technologies, and cutting-edge research from around the world." The point of these conferences is go expand the knowledge and use of technology and techniques for education, personal use, and business use.  http://summit.immersiveeducation.org/
From June 3-6, 2013, Boston College will be hosting iED 2013.I am most interested in the 3D Printing discussions. With its every increasing use, personal 3D printers could be evolutionary in the future. http://mediagrid.org/news/2013-11_iED_2013_CALL.html

Class 4, Assignment 4

Using piktocharts.com I created a personal info graph that contains info about my interests and current educational goals and interests

Class 4, Assignment #3

These videos are from the Immersive Education Youtube Channel. These three are a few of the ones that I enjoyed watching. They all show ways in which virtual simulation can be used in education and human interaction

MIDTERM #6

For Midterm #6 I created a .GIF image. When in GIMP I created a circle text image. Then I copied and pasted this layer, continuously rotating it every time. When I saved the image as a .GIF, there is an option to play each lay one by one as an animation. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education Course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

MIDTERM #5

This project is Midterm #5. For this project we saved an image as two different file types. One image is a .JPEG and the other is a .PNG. The main difference between the two is how they open when you go to either load or download them. When the page is opened to the .PGN image it loads much slower. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. Roll Call #1, Class #4

Redeye Image Format

In this assignment we did the same thing as the Midterm 3 assignment. We saved the photo above three times. Each time the photo was saved it was saved under a different file format. In the photos above the images are .JPG, .GIF, and .PNG in order from top to bottom. You can see a clear different between the .GIF and other two images. The other two photos are a lot clearer than the .GIF.

Midterm 3

In this midterm we learned how to save GIMP projects as different file types. Once my name was added to the photo I went to FILE and scrolled down to "save as". When I clicked "save as" a box popped up with the "save as" settings. In this box we have the file type option. When you click on the file type option a bunch of options appear for which you can save your file as. In this project we had to save our file as .JPG, .GIF, and .PNG. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at  http://immersiveeducation.org/@/bc/

Midterm 2

In this midterm I downloaded the Samus.jpg from the textbook, saved it to my desktop, and opened the photo in GIMP. In GIMP I used the Select Region Tool to highlight a rectangular space at the bottom of the image and then went to EDIT, scrolled down to "Fill with FB Color", and selected it. This caused the space highlighted to be filled in as the color I had selected, which was white. Then, using the Text Tool I highlighted an area in the box and typed my caption. Once it was typed I was able to use the Text Tool settings to change the font, color, and size of the text. When I got the text to how I wanted it, I then used the Move Tool to adjust the the text so it fit well in the box. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at  http://immersiveeducation.org/@/bc/

Midterm 1

This is my first midterm project. For this project I downloaded the file from the textbook to my desktop. From there I ran GIMP and using GIMP I opened the Redeye.jpg photo. Using the Color Picker Tool I was able to get the correct eye color to remove the red eye from the photo. With the Zoom Tool I was able to enlarge the image to get a better view. I then used the Brush Tool to brush away any red eye in the picture. This is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at  http://immersiveeducation.org/@/bc/
